Get Marching For Tipp Mini Marathon

DOWNLOAD THE FLIER FOR 2012 MINI MARATHON

North Tipperary Sports Partnership and South Tipperary Sports Partnership have joined forces for the third year in organising this exciting women’s 10k event for Thurles.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday 30th September at 11am in Thurles, starting and finishing at LIT Tipperary.

A €200 charitable donation will be made to a charity of your choice for the largest group to register this year.
Registration for the event is open and it is well worth registering as soon as possible as the registration is only €15, plus online fee up, until August 31st and will be €20, plus online fee, until September 24th.
Elaine Cullinan, co-ordinator, North Tipperary Sports Partnership, said: “This event is open to ALL runners, walkers and joggers. We want to encourage as many women as possible to come out and have fun on the day. You can download training programmes for walking and running the event from the website above, and information on all the Meet and Train groups in the county are also listed on the website.
The official route and registration details as well as all race information can be found on the event website:www.tippminimarathon.ie.

Ms Cullinan added: “Every participant will be chip timed so all runners and walkers will get an accurate time and the event is AAI measured and certified. Thurles has been designated, a European Town Of Sport for 2012, so why not get involved and participate this year in the Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon in Thurles.”
The 2012 Tipperary Mini Marathon was officially launched by Minister Michael Ring in May 2012, and former Irish Olympian Catherina McKiernan will once again participate in the event.

Valerie Connolly, co-ordinator, South Tipperary Sports Partnership commented: “I am delighted to be part of this women in sport initiative in Tipperary as it is a great opportunity for women of all ages to get active and take part in our own County Mini Marathon. All finishers will receive a race medallion and goody bag. There will also be spot prizes on the day. The event also provides a great opportunity for participants to raise funds for their own local charities. A charitable donation of €200 to the charity of your choice will be made to the largest group to register this year, so get your groups together and get registering.”

The Tipperary Mini Marathon committee are also very grateful for the support received from local businesses this year. Tom Harvey Motor Co Ltd. are sponsoring all the water for the event, as well as refreshments at the finish line. They will also supply the Lead Car for the event.

“A host of other local businesses are contributing to both the goody bag and spot prizes, and we are very grateful for their support,” said Elaine Cullinan.

A list of these contributors can be found on www.tippminimarathon.ie
Members of the organising committee include representatives from both North and South Tipperary Sports Partnerships, Thurles Town Council, Thurles Gardai, Tipperary Athletics County Board, Thurles Crokes AC, Tipp FM, LIT Tipperary, and North Tipperary Civil Defence.

Registration is online at (www.tippminimarathon.ie) and postal entries are also accepted this year. Registration price increases from August 31st and closing date for all entries is strictly Monday 24th September, 2012.
