TIPPERARY OUTCLASS LIMERICK

Tipperary way outclassed Limerick in Croke Park on Sunday 16th August,2009 in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-Final with a final score of 6-19 to 2-7 to qualify for the All-Ireland Final.

Tipperary will now face the ultimate test against current champions Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final on September 6th.

We wish all involved every good wish for this big day.

Hot Mikado opens in Thurles

Phoenix Productions will take to the stage on Wednesday next, 5th August, 2009 in the Premier Hall with their annual summer production of 'The Hot Mikado' which runs until Saturday, August 8th.

Thurles Courthouse Officially Re-Opens

Thurles newly restored Courthouse was officially re-opened on Friday, 24th July, 2009 by the Minister for Justice and Law Reform, Mr. Dermot Ahern, T.D. The development cost was €4.7m and took 2 years to complete. Minister Ahern said 'The public, judges, court staff and legal professionals are entitled to conduct their business with dignity and in appropriate surroundings. They will be served by these new facilities and by the excellent staff here in Thurles'.

Up to 100 New Jobs for Thurles

Rivermont Construction have recently announced the building of a further 12 houses in their development at 'Dun Lia', Loughtagalla, Thurles. There are currently 18 houses in this development with planning permission for a total of 123 houses. Mr. Richard Hourican of Rivermont Construction is confident that at the 'right price' these houses will sell. They are currently recruiting sub contractors for this development and estimate that up to 100 jobs will be created....a very welcome jobs boost for Thurles. Contact Richard Hourican on 086/8263127.

Tipperary are again Senior Munster Champions

In front of a crowd of 40,330 in Semple Stadium, Thurles, Tipperary won back to back the Senior Munster Hurling Championship title for the first time since 1988 with a final score of: Tipperary 4.14 and Waterford 2.16.

Very well done to all concerned and good luck for the rest of the hurling year.

8.30pm: Historical Presentation : in Tipperary Institute(Open to the public).

Saturday July 11^th

11.00am: Under 12 Hurling Blitz: in Dr. Morris Park with teams from all Munster Co.

11.00am: Munster Long Puck Final: in Thurles Racecourse.

7.30pm: Special GAA mass in Thurles Cathedral

8.30pm: Munster final ‘Night at the Dogs’: in Thurles Greyhound Track

(Half price admission to patrons wearing their county GAA jersey.)

8.30pm: Open air entertainment in Liberty Square:

Including launch of new Tipperary GAA 12 Track CD featuring the winning GAA Supporter’s Song ‘The Mighty Blue and Gold’.

9.00pm: Arrival of torch in Liberty Square, carried in Symbolic Relay as follows:

12.00noon: Leaving Cusacks GAA Carron, and carried through clubs in Co.Clare.

3.00pm: Hand over at Na Piarsaigh and carried thro’ Limk City by Limk Clubs.

6.00pm: Hand over to Tipp at Finnegans and carried by Tipp clubs to Thurles.

Sunday July 12th

10.00am : Guinness Gig-Rig: in Liberty Square.

12.30pm: Entertainment by Artane Boys Band: in Liberty Square.

2.00pm: Munster Minor Hurling Final

2.30pm (Half Time): Cumann Na mBunscoil Primary Games.

3.15: Arrival of Torch from Michael Cusack’s GAA Club in Co. Clare.

Torch will be carried by Tipperary hurling legend Jimmy Doyle into the Stadium and presented to the Chairman of Munster Co. who in turn will light torches carried by the chairman of each Munster County.

4.00pm: Munster Senior Hurling Final

4.40pm (Half Time): Presentation of Munster Senior Hurling final captains.

5.30pm: Presentation of cup to Munster Senior Hurling Champions?????
