THURLES ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL

The 4th annual Thurles Arts & Music Festival will take place this year from 5th to 14th August, 2011. This is the first time the Festival will be held during the summer. THURLES CHARITY HORSE SHOW- 31st July, 2011

The Thurles Charity Horse Show will take place on Sunday, 31st July, 2011 on the land of Gerry Kennedy (by kind permission). The location is approx. half way between the Ragg and Borrisoleigh, Thurles. The beneficiaries of this event will be Thurles Lions Club and they in turn will use it for the benefit of it's chosen charities.

Micheal Lowry elected Mayor of North Tipperary

Every good wish to Independent Councillor, Micheal Lowry, son of local T.D. Michael Lowry. Councillor Lowry was unanimously elected First Citizen of North Tipperary at the Council AGM held in St. Patrick's College, Thurles.

TIPPERARY-Munster Senior Hurling Champions

Congratulations to the Tipperary Senior Hurlers who defeated Waterford in a one sided game in Pairc Ui Caoimh, Cork today 10th July, 2011. The final score was 7.19 to 0.19.

THURLES SARSFIELDS INTERNATIONAL HURLING

The Wild Geese, a team of US marines based in England, are amongst eight sides competing in the inaugural International Hurling 13's this weekend. Also participating are Kilburn Gaels and Robert Emmets (London), Keady (Armagh), Na Magha (Derry), Dunboyne (Meath), Naas (Kildare), and Naomh Monnine (Louth). The festival's opening is on Friday night 8th July, 2011 at Sarsfields Social Centre with the hurling action on Saturday at Morris Park and Sarsfield's own pitch. The winners will receive the Tom Semple Cup, presented to Thurles Sarsfields by the family of the late Tom Semple, in memory of the late Thurles and Tipperary GAA legend. We welcome all teams, mentors and followers to Thurles and wish you a most enjoyable visit to our town, home of the GAA.
