Backstage Ireland-Performing Arts Academy


BACKSTAGE PASS…if you’re lucky!

Backstage-Ireland; nationally recognised for it’s performing arts work with young people, is opening one of it’s Performing Arts Academies at the Source Arts Centre, this September.

Students will take part in a range of workshops from drama, mime and acting for film and television to circus skills, singing and a mix of dance from jazz to hip-hop/street.
The company has a high reputation based on the quality of it’s work and the staff are a unique combination of teacher and stage/television professional.
Backstage Academy of Performing Arts will operate every Tuesday from 6pm-9pm-(8-11 year olds 6pm-8.30pm and 12-18 year olds from 6.30pm-9pm). During the two and a half hour session each week, the students will undertake three different workshops. Students are also sent to appropriate auditions and take part in presentations and shows during the year. The work of the company develops communication skills and self-confidence and Backstage boasts that it’s young people can be ‘seen AND heard’... The weekly fee for the two and a half hour session is 15 Euro-paid weekly.

On Tuesday, 14TH September there will be an ‘Open Day’ so that young people can come along and experience the work of the company before deciding to join. Those attending the Open Day should arrive on time and be prepared to stay for the full session. At the end of the Open Day, application forms will be made available to those interested in applying for a place. Entry to the ‘Open Day’ is free of charge. No need to book in advance-just turn up but be prepared to queue!
